Flexi-job or temp work: what's the difference?
"Couldn't we just get a flexi-jobber for this?" A question our consultants hear often, usually right at the moment an employer needs to fill a gap in the schedule. The answer depends on something that seems unimportant at first glance: who the person actually is.
Flexi-job versus temp work: the status
A flexi-job is reserved for people who already work mainly elsewhere, or who are retired. They earn extra income, net, on top of their existing situation. A temp contract, on the other hand, is a full-fledged employment contract, regardless of what someone does elsewhere. It's the main occupation, not a side income.
When do you choose a flexi-job, and when temp work?
Are you looking for someone who already has work experience and only wants extra hours now and then, for example for a weekend or a specific event? Then a flexi-job makes sense. Are you looking for someone who needs to be available full-time or structurally, even if only temporarily? Then you'll land on temporary employment.
Practical difference: available target group
There is also a practical difference in who you can approach. The pool of potential flexi-jobbers is more limited, since not everyone qualifies. With temp work, the target group is broader, which often makes the search faster if you need a larger volume of people.
